Friends of the Weirs.
The application for a Heritage Lottery Grant to undertake the restoration of the Casemill Weir demanded that local support was evident and in favour of the work.
Friends of the Weirs was inaugurated in 2003 to reflect this and as a fund raising arm for The Teme Weirs Trust. Over 200 people subscribed for varying periods of time for a sliding scale of payments. Not only local inhabitants signed up but Ludlovians and Friends spread throughout the UK from Pembrokeshire and the Isle of Wight to Yorkshire, Wiltshire, Surrey and Dorset.
Following completion of the major works it was decided to suspend annual subscriptions for Friends of the Weirs.
The register from 2003 was updated in 2009 when all existing friends were asked to re-register their interest and addresses.
An annual newsetter is sent out prior to the AGM which takes place in November, updating friends on the project, the river's wildlife, and fund-raising events.
Approximately £2,000 per year is needed for management and maintenance and fund raising continues to build a bank balance to gain interest to cover these costs.
If you wish to make a donation towards this please print out this page and complete the details below, or contact the Teasurer directly.
